New Sto Training Centre & Courses for 2015

Training Centre

Sto products and systems are only supplied to trained applicators who have completed our detailed training courses, and demand has never been higher. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding technical support, we have undertaken a huge programme of investment in our training services to help meet the demand.

Under the guidance of Training Manager, Karen Vanstone, Sto has introduced a range of practical, two-day courses covering all Sto facade systems, including:

  • render systems
  • external wall insulation systems
  • render & glass rainscreen cladding systems
  • acoustic ceilings.

The courses combine theory and practical sessions. All contractors looking to become Sto applicators should send their staff on a training course before undertaking a Sto installation. Established customers can also take part in order to refresh or expand their knowledge base, and to stay up-to-date on product developments. The objective is to equip on-site personnel with the practical understanding of the critical detailing required for a fault-free installation, and guidance in overcoming common site issues.

2015 will also see the first courses being held at our new Birmingham training centre. This large facility features a two-storey training rig replicating a multi-level installation, recreating typical detailing that applicators will encounter.

Managing Director Graham Chadwick of Craft Interiors is adamant that: "anyone who touches a Sto contract will have been on a Sto training course first – whether they are directly employed by our company or working as labour-only contractors ."

Craft has worked with Sto for the last three years and values the quality of the company. "Sto's products are top quality, but it's the technical back-up they give that I really value. It's not only technical advice at the point of specification but they will also visit sites to help out with any issues that occur during the installation."

Gary Barker-Clare of G&S Plastering in Lancaster also recognises the need to keep up to date on new techniques – in this case, coming to see for himself what is on offer. "I'd been on a Sto EWI course a few years ago and as I was sending one of my employees to the new Birmingham facility I thought it would be good to brush up on my knowledge and learn about the new products. I'd never used the Sto-Rotofix Plus system before and I walked away feeling comfortable that I could use it in the future, which is great."

While Paul Kirkwood of TMK Ltd attended the course as he recognised the potential for growing his business as an applicator of Sto products: "We don’t want to miss out on any job opportunities, and with EWI becoming increasingly popular, we thought it was best to get the relevant skills under our belts. We've recognised that Sto seems to be the top quality manufacturer so attending the course and becoming certified seemed like a good idea."

Paul recommends the course to others thinking of specialising in EWI: "It was really easy to sign up and well worth the money. It was the most enjoyable course I've been on. The teachers were great and its brilliant knowing how the materials work, ten out of ten."
