Oasis Academy

StoTherm Classic, the highly durable external wall insulation system with market leading impact resistance of 60 Joules, has been used to spectacular effect on the facade of the new state of the art Oasis Academy in Enfield. This sophisticated building required a versatile system that could provide the necessary levels of thermal insulation and make its own aesthetic statement.

The new academy has been designed to house 1,150 students aged 11-19, including facilities for 250 sixth form students. Its dramatic shape and muted grey shades beautifully complement the four Pods that emerge from the building in three shades of green.

Designed by Capita Architecture and sponsored by the independent charity Oasis Community Learning, the academy, which opened its doors earlier this year, specialises in business and enterprise.

Chris Townsend from Capita Architecture comments, "We chose the StoTherm Classic system because it's the best at what it does. We find Sto's products to be extremely functional and aesthetically diverse, which allows us an element of design freedom whilst still achieving a highly durable and effective facade material. Furthermore, the range of colours StoTherm Classic comes in is so extensive we were able to use the exact colours we wanted.

"We have used Sto on a number of our previous projects and in addition to their range of quality products, we have always found Sto Ltd to be flexible to our needs and very helpful."

The Sto reinforcing coat and mesh provide up to 15 times more crack resistance than conventional cement based renders, and the decorative render finish is available in over 800 colours from the StoColor System.

The Academy has achieved a BREEAM rating of "Very Good" through the use of sustainable technology and materials.
