Beechwood Business Park

The first Passivhaus office development in the UK has been completed by NB Renders in Dover, Kent. Beechwood Business Park achieves an 80% saving on running costs in comparison to similar buildings built to current regulations, adopting all the principles of passive construction.

  • Extremely thick, high quality insulation.
  • Orientated to maximise solar gain.
  • Cold bridges have been designed out.
  • Thermal mass has been incorporated to regulate internal temperatures.

StoTherm Classic is at the forefront of this methodology. Sto is one of only two system manufacturers to have approved Passivhaus details for external wall insulation systems.

In addition, this project took advantage of the time saving application adhesive Sto-Turbofix, a modified foam that significantly reduced the time it took to apply the large format tongue and groove insulation boards.

"This was not only quicker, but also cleaner, safer and the components were much more easily transported." says Noel Bushel of NB Renders.

To minimise cleaning of the facade, StoLotusan render was used, giving the building a bright appearance and low, long-term maintenance requirements.
