Stobhill Hospital

The impressive new extension to the RIBA Award winning Stobhill Hospital project in Glasgow uses an external wall insulation system from Sto to provide excellent thermal performance and the clean modern aesthetic that architects Reiach & Hall were looking for.

The StoTherm Mineral system was specified because the new 60 bed extension needed to match the specification of the main hospital building and a thermal performance rating of 0.35W/m²K was required, which the system easily achieved.

The highly durable StoTherm Mineral system with mineral fibre boards provides unrivalled fire protection and exceptional thermal performance. The reinforcing coat and weather resistant render finish also allow for greater impact resistance. The system is mechanically fixed to the steel framing system wall structure.

The Stobhill Hospital 60 bed ward extension contains elderly rehabilitation beds, day surgery support beds, support offices and seminar suites. It is due to open in 2011.
