"Facing the Future" Richard Dimbleby Lecture

HRH Prince Charles recently delivered a speech on the sustainability of modern industry in a televised Richard Dimbleby Lecture titled "Facing the Future", held at St. James's Palace.

Among the sustainable solutions for home building, he discussed the topic of biomimicry, learning from nature to solve architectural problems. As an example of this process, he discussed how the study of lotus leaves has led to the development of a self-cleaning exterior paint, StoLotusan Color. He described the effect as a "remarkable example" of biomimicry.

The Richard Dimbleby Lecture, "Facing the Future" was shown on BBC One on the 8th July 2009. You can watch a video or read a full transcript of the lecture on the Prince of Wales website.
