Reading Railway Station
One of the busiest train stations in the UK, Reading Railway Station is undergoing a major refurbishment, reflecting its increased importance as a transport hub to over 15 million passengers annually.
As part of the refurbishment, Grimshaw Architects has specified 1,200 m² of StoVentec Glass. The system is fixed to the existing concrete structure, producing an immediate and dramatic improvement in the visual appeal of the main passenger circulation areas.
The glass covers a massive area, both interior and exterior. The smoky grey colour gives a contemporary appearance that is slick but emphatic. Project architect Nick Hawkes said: "It was really important to get the colour absolutely right. We specified the RAL colour and Sto was able to match it precisely and consistently."
