Chilled ceilings were first developed in Scandinavia in the late 1960s, and their use is now widespread throughout continental Europe. Water, rather than air, is used to control the cooling loads. Working on principles of radiation and convection, StoSilent Cool provides a cost effective, clean and friendly interior environment.
The StoSilent Cool acoustic panel system is equipped with a capillary tubing grid that can be connected to any water supply. Cold or hot water flows through as required, providing comfortable room temperatures throughout the year.
The highly effective StoSilent Cool panels have an average absorption of 0.64 NRC - 0.60 αW (250-2000 Hz).
The panel remains virtually inert at typical room temperature changes. These unique expansion properties allow for a seamless installation area of up to 150mē or 20 linear metres in a single direction without the need for expansion joints, providing a monolithic appearance.
StoSilent Superfein acoustic silicate plaster can be used as a top coat, which is available in a selection of 465 colours from the StoColor System.
The benefits of the system for building owners and occupants include:
- Space savings within the ceiling voids
- Reduced energy costs
- No draughts or airborne bugs
- No moving parts means reduced maintenance and cost
- Longer life-span than air conditioning.
- Reduces noise pollution and smaller plant equipment
- Fibre-free system is physiologically safe for installers and users.
Also available as StoSilent Cool Alu, for additional protection from staining due to air filtration in high humidity environments. |
